On Sunday, thousands of Spaniards set a new world record in the city of Malaga by dancing flamenco together. A total of 4,730 people took part in the record attempt, according to the city council on Monday.

The dance spectacle took place in the shopping street Calle Marqués de Larios, in the centre of the city. Many tourists were surprised by the mass of dancers who suddenly took over the city centre.

The participants of the world record attempt were all dressed in a white-red-black outfit and danced the traditional folk dance “Por Malaguenas”. Their action was part of an international flamenco seminar that took place in the Spanish coastal city. The previous flamenco world record stood at 3,920 dancers.
